Question 1
how much money can i get from a car accident?? it was not my fault?... i was in a car accident. the other driver crashed into me & did a hit and run. i was in the car with my g.f . my g.f ended up with back pains & neck pains. i ended up with two broken fingers & a cast in my left hand. in addition i had back pains too. it appears that the driver that hit me was d.u.i and did a hit and run and got caught. after that, the insurance from the driver salvaged my car. just paid me what is was worth 3k. ive been going to therapy for 2 months now with my g.f. i spend about 500-600 in medical bills. i was off work 3 months. im 21 years old and i live in the state of california. i have an attorney working on my case. so how much can i get from the insurance company and my g.f ???? As far as your wage loss is concerned, this seems like a lot of time to miss for an injury that does not appear to be that serious. Don't expect that the insurance company is just going to accept all of your wage loss without documented proof that you were completely incapacitated and unable to work. If you have a normal desk job or something that doesn't require the constant use of both of your hands (i.e-- being a surgeon or working in construction), they may give you a month tops. Because you have an attorney, you can actually expect to receive less money in your pocket. An attorney typically will take 1/3 of your settlement amount as payment for their services. Remember this for next time... the value of your claim does not change just because you have any attorney. Why pay someone to do what you can do yourself? As far as your girlfriend's claim goes, has she received any treatment? A typical neck or back injury with no treatment may receive between $500-$1500 for "pain and suffering". Because of the aggravated liability, and if she has received treatment, it may be a little bit more. If she has an attorney as well, she will end up with less...

LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm has dealt this year with a short-lived government shutdown, the bankruptcy of two of the state's iconic businesses and a recall attempt. But she said Tuesday in her year-end interview with reporters that the state also has begun diversifying its economy, even as it faces another tough budget year ahead. “It was a year in which we had some of the toughest challenges we’ve faced, from the General Motors (GM) and Chrysler bankruptcies, to state revenues falling to a 45-year low when adjusted for inflation. Those challenges were painful, but they underscored that we have the right plan to give citizens new opportunities for a secure way of life,” said Granholm. Granholm pointed to a number of positive developments that validated the state’s efforts to diversify Michigan’s economy in the sectors of advanced manufacturing, clean energy, defense and homeland security, life sciences, film, and tourism.
