The main problem with younger drivers is that fact that most, if not all auto insurance companies have a bias against younger drivers. This bias is based on the facts that younger drivers in the ages between 18-25 are more likely to get into an auto accident than older drivers from ages 26 and over. With that in mid, younger drivers end up paying more for their auto insurance premium than those in other age groups.
However, if you are a young driver you don’t always have to pay more for your auto insurance premium. A young driver can still have an affordable auto insurance coverage. One of the way to get affordable auto insurance for people between the ages of 18-25 is searching for auto insurance agency that specialize in customizing for young drivers under 25 years old.
The best and the quickest way to find these specialized auto insurance agencies are to do your search online. Getting quotes can be access online through different auto insurance agencies without any sale pressure and obligation to buy anything. By utilizing the internet, you can gather different rates from different auto insurance agencies to do your comparison.
These auto insurance agencies are good at is working on the factors that could help lowering the cost of premiums in younger drivers. These factors could be the young drivers themselves that contribute to the cost reduction of their auto insurance premium. If the young driver completed a driving course, there is a good chance that they will get some kind of discount. Also, by having good grades in school and providing that information to the auto insurance agency will also give young driver discounts. Along with good credit ratings will also reduce a young driver auto insurance premium.
The other factor for reducing a young driver auto insurance premium is the type of car the young driver is driving. It is recommended for a young driver under 25 years old to drive compact or midsized car to reduce their auto insurance premium. A sport car or a SUV will increase a young driver auto insurance premium.

A new scheme is offering cheaper insurance to young motorists who agree not to drive their vehicles between the hours of 23:00 and 05:00 GMT.
Motaquote, in partnership with RSA Insurance Group, is rolling out the i-kube device – which imposes an automatic £45 charge if the car is used during the curfew period – in a bid to reduce the number of claims.
The firm also hopes to see the number of accidents caused by young people fall as a result.
Commenting on the product, Association of British Drivers spokesperson Nigel Humphreys said it could help reduce premiums for other drivers – potentially creating improved access to cheap motorhome insurance.
However, he expressed doubt that the scheme would work.
Mr Humphreys added: “I would prefer to see this formalised. At what point does the young person, using this, stop? Presumably when they can find a cheaper deal somewhere else.”
He added that if the scheme did not work, it would “push up the cost of normal insurance for young drivers”.
